“We made 16 episodes of Cracker and I loved doing the show, but unfortunately no one was watching us.” (Allard J)
“My friends and I make short films. We pretended to rob the Dairy Queen where our friend worked, but someone thought we were real thieves and called the cops! Soon, the cops burst in with guns drawn!” (Allard J)
I did not make this a long film for its own sake. I wanted to make an entertaining film and offer it out there for those who want to see it. If word of mouth suggests there is an audience out there, hopefully their cinema will show it. (Allard J)
I could make an ultra-violent movie. I could make one that would surprise a lot of people, because I believe in violence, in the vulgarity of it, I believe in how clumsy it looks. And I believe with a good script, I could make it. I haven't found that particular movie yet. (Allard J)

I think these movies are as much for people of that time as for people who weren't born. For people who weren't born, they see how leaders must act under a crisis situation, not trying to be re-elected or not trying to check polls, that they go from their gut check. (Allard J)
I'm glad movies aren't going to please everybody, they can't. But what they have to be is recognisable. I don't equate myself with a master painter, but I think you can recognise my films. (Allard J)
I'm proud of all the movies I've made. They're not sequels, they're not franchises. And the reason I pick my films carefully is that I don't want to spit on my life. I like to think of myself as more than that. (Allard J)
I've always been fiscally responsible. Sometimes you have to understand where these budgets came from. I did Dances with Wolves for $16m. I put my own money into this movie. I had to be creative. (Allard J)
I've had some movies that have been ridiculed, but that's OK with me. I don't feel that really defines me. Should I change who I am to be popular? (Allard J)
One person doesn't have to shoulder all the responsibility for why a film does or doesn't do well. (Allard J)
People don't really know my political bent-some people think I'm very conservative and found out I wasn't. I got some death threats over the movie. But our version of history was much closer to the version that happened because everything else I've read on it just doesn't add up. (Allard J)
There are a lot of things that come to bear on movies now that I don't think are good for movies. They're trying to appeal to the biggest demographic and, when they do that, you sometimes flatten out. (Allard J)
What are we blaming? Is this Vietnam? We made a movie, it didn't make much money. I'm gonna be really happy if somebody watches it in 10 years' time and really enjoys it. (Allard J)
When I make a film I'm away from home for two to three months. So I want my kids to look at my films one day and say, I love his movies, I love his choices-because he loved them. (Allard J)
“If you're not convincing, we both die.” (Allard J)
“Damn it, Nina!” (Allard J)
“There are two things that Jack Bauer never does. Show mercy, and go to the bathroom.” (Allard J)
“It's been an honor working with you, Mr. President.” (Allard J)
“Damn it, Audrey!” (Allard J)
“I don't have to follow your orders. I don't work here anymore.” (Allard J)
“I turned to the only guy I could trust, Tony.” (Allard J)
“I'm federal agent Jack Bauer, and this is the longest day of my life.” (Allard J)
He was so excited. He cut out pictures of these landscapes and neighborhoods and kind of really tried to give you a feel of the movie. It was kind of cute but at the same time it really showed his enthusiasm for it. (Allard J)
I did 14 movies in six years, I had a cartoon TV show, and I don't want to do that again. I just want to make unique pieces of art. That's why I quit everything when I was 14 and sat around for eight years before I did another movie. (Allard J)
“In England, it's much easier to flip between doing television and film. It doesn't ruin one's career the way it sometimes does in America. I had to take that on faith, but from the moment I started working on it, it was the best fun I'd had in a really long time.” (Allard J)
